How much does it cost to install a gas fireplace?

As every environment differs, it is hard to give you a standard cost when it comes to how much it would cost to install a gas fireplace. There are a few factors that need to be taken into consideration when looking at gas fireplace prices.

Cost considerations when installing a gas fireplace

While it is possible to add a fireplace to your home once it has been built, the way a house has been built can determine which type of gas fireplace is best suited to your space and additional work that will need to be completed to accommodate the fireplace.

For example, if you have an existing chimney or flue in your home, fantastic – installing a gas fireplace will be a piece of cake! However, if you need a flue to be installed or don’t have an existing gas supply, there are things that will affect the final cost. You may even need a fake wall to be built to house your fireplace.

Changes that may need to be made to your home and other cost considerations

Gas supply

Do you own a wood-burning fireplace and are wanting to make the shift to a gas log fireplace? Gas fireplaces are a fantastic alternative to your traditional fireplace, as they require less upkeep and offer a high level of energy efficiency! They also can run off either LPG or natural gas to suit the existing configurations on your property.

If you have an existing gas supply, we always ensure we use the shortest run possible to make sure the installation process is as smooth as possible. However, if you do not have an already existing gas supply, you will have to contact a licensed gas supplier.

Wall builds

If you do not have an existing fireplace or do not have an area where a fireplace can be obviously built, we will have to build a fake wall to house your unit. This is included in the overall installation of your gas fireplace.

Flue installation

A flue is the passage in which gas and other products of combustion is moved outside your home. If you do not have an existing fireplace in your home, it is important to note that this is something you will have to consider in the overall cost of your gas fireplace. However, newer models of gas fireplaces can allow for easier installation of a flue – such as the Escea’s flexible flue technology.

Maintenance Costs

While a gas fireplace is more cost effective in comparison to a wood fireplace, they still need regular services every 2 years. This is an extra cost that should be taken into consideration when buying a gas fireplace.
